Job title: Planning and Investment Officer (1 Post HQ Zanzibar)
Report to: Planning and Investment Manager
1. Job description
Investment
1. Develop, review and implement investment policy and Investment plan
2. Administer the entire investments at reasonable cost including management of consulting
fees, transaction costs and investment portfolios management
3. Recommend, manage and make investment decisions that fall within your limit as outlines
within policy
4. Work together with risk management officer on assessing investment risks, work together
with finance department on financial/investment issues and with estate officer on real
estate's governance
s. Manage and monitor the work-of estate officers.
6. Reporting on a timely basis on Investment performance results and any major changes in
the economic outlook, investment strategy or any other factors that affect implementation of
investment plan and investment effectiveness to Planning and Investment Manager.
Planning
1. Observe current and future of the corporation by formulating action plan for the implementation
of all projects, policies, plans and regulations
2. Develop, review and update ZIC Strategic Corporate Plan and long term programs
3. Develop, review and manage annual budget
4. Develop, review, update and evaluate all policies, plans, procedure manuals and regulations
that belong to Zanzibar insurance Corporation including annual work plan
s. Set, manages, evaluate and monitor all general planning issues, goals and project across
Zanzibar Insurance Corporation
6. Prepare projects/planning documents for submission to the Board Committees and Board of Directors
7. Advice Managing Director on all matters pertaining to planning, projects and investment
8. Work closely with research and business development unit to gather and interpret data that
relate to business developments projects
9. Creates planning studies, gather relevant statistical data, determine criteria and generates
required reports
10. Design and carry-out studies on performance, efficiency, capacity and recommend solution to problems pertained
11. Perform any other duties that will be assigned by Managing Director
Essential Qualifications
- Holder of a degree in Finance And Investment
- Holder of a Postgraduate degree in Finance or Investment
- At least 2 years experience in Project planning and management
- Computer Literacy.
REMUNERATION
Remuneration will be according to ZIC salary scale and other terms and conditions of ZIC.

Insurance Officer (1 Post HQ Zanzibar)
Report to: Director of General Insurance
Job Purpose
The Insurance Officer serves under the Director of General Insurance. He is responsible
for underwriting business, renewals, endorsements, processing of claims as well as routine
correspondence.
Duties and Responsibilities
(i) Undertakes the underwriting of new policies.
(ii) Apportions risks under various reinsurance treaties and/or facultative reinsurance.
(iii) Receives facultative reinsurance offers from outside companies, maintains reinsurance files
and relevant correspondence.
(iv) Advises the Accounts Department on Credit and Debit Notes to be raised In favour of or
against Insurance Agents. Insurers or Reinsures in respect of premiums, claims etc.
(v) Prepares relevant data for actuarial valuation.
{vi) Prepares endorsements and renewal documents.
(vii)Checks premium rates applicable to endorsements and renewals and ensures that they are
correctly applied.
(viii) Drafts all endorsements and renewals as need arises.
(ix) Advises on trends in the various aspects of business operations within his section and
suggests corrective measures.
(x) Signs documents within approved financial powers delegated to him.
(xi) Deals with all matters connected with advances or commission to agents.
(xiii) Process claims for settlements e.t.c
(xiv) Carry out risks and loss surveys as necessary
Essential Qualifications
Holder of Associate of Chartered Insurance Institute (ACll) Diploma or
Advanced Diploma in Insurance from a recognized Institution Or
A recognized degree plus recognized professional insurance qualification; and
At least 2 years of experience at managerial level
Computer literacy is an added advantage

Duties and Responsibilities
(i} Assists the Chief Accountant in the supervision and monitoring of all Non-Life accounting
matters.
(ii) Supervises Non-Life accounting operations and ensures adherence to financial regulations
in the day to day operations.
(iii} Maintains proper documentation and accuracy of non-life revenues claims and payments
(iv) Prepares monthly and other periodic financial reports of Non-life Accounts and consolidates
periodic accounts statements. reports and returns.
(v) Maintains all books of Non-Life Accounts and allied records.
(vi) Coordinates the issuance of quarterly statements of accounts to Re-insurers
(vii) Coordinates and maintains investment records and prepares periodic investment reports.
(viii) Implements internal control systems and other accounting policies and procedures.
(ix) Any other related duties assigned by the superiors
