PROJECT COORDINATOR 
VACANCIES
Location: Kilwa District, Tanzania.
The Madrasa Early Childhood Programme – Zanzibar (MECP-Z) iss an Early Childhood Development (ECD) organisation supported by the Aga Khan Foundation (AKF). MECP-Z has been implementing ECD programmes in Zanzibar for over 25 years and started to deliver in the mainland in 2014. MECP-Z is expanding to deliver a four-year project in Zanzibar and Kilwa to improve access to quality preprimary education in remote, rural communities. The project will be delivered in partnership with AKF, the Government of Tanzania, and the Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar. MECP-Z is looking for a two dynamic, motivated, and committed person to lead, coordinate, and deliver all project activities in Kilwa in partnership with Kilwa District Council.

Project Coordinator
Reporting to the MECP-Z Programme Director, key responsibilities will include, but not limited to:
 Work in partnership with Kilwa Local Government Authority (LGA) to effectively plan and
deliver all project activities
 Manage all finance and operations in coordination with AKF’s Coastal Rural Support
Programme Tanzania.
 Ensure all financial and narrative reports are accurate and delivered in a timely manner
 Develop annual and quarterly project work plans and supervise its implementation
 In coordination with LGA and AKF, monitor and evaluate project performance, propose project
changes based on learning, and support the LGA to use the data to inform planning and delivery


Qualifications and experiences:
 Preferred Masters Degree from in Early Childhood Development, Education, or other related
field
 A minimum of five years of experience in ECD or education and three years in a supervisory
post in a non-government organisation
 Demonstrated experience working in partnership with government and LGA in Tanzania to
deliver high quality projects
 Strong financial and organisational skills
 Ability to use and analyse data to improve project delivery
 Strong interpersonal and team building skills
 Excellent verbal and written communication in English and Kiswahili.
 Must be computer literate in Ms Word, Excel and Power Point

Project Officer
Reporting to the Project Coordinator, key responsibilities will include, but not limited to:
 Deliver high quality pre-primary teacher professional development courses including face-toface
and on-going mentor support at the school level
 Work with the project coordinator to support government officials and head teachers to develop
their understanding and capacity to manage pre-primary education provision across Kilwa
 In partnership with LGA, implement wider project activities across all target communities and
schools
 Monitor and evaluate project activities in the field
 Submit reports high quality quarterly report

Qualifications and experiences:
 Bachelor Degree in Early Childhood Development or Education.
 A minimum of three years of experience delivering teacher professional development
 Experience working in ECD or education project delivery
 Demonstrated experience working in partnership with government and LGA in Tanzania to deliver high quality projects
 Ability to effectively collect and use data
 Strong interpersonal and team building skills
 Excellent verbal and written communication in English and Kiswahili.
 Must be computer literate in Ms Word, Excel and Power Point.
